What is Merchant account in Merchant portal?
Merchant account within the Merchant portal is an entity that represents the business organisation. It serves as the central space where it is possible to manage all payment operations, configurations, and user access related to a particular business. Each Merchant account contains essential settings such as Permissions, Roles and Members management.
Merchant portal permissions determine the level of access users have when working within the system. Permissions are generally defined at the global configuration level of the Merchant portal, but can also be adjusted for individual Merchant accounts.
Each Merchant's permission set depends on how the account was created and managed. In Self-registration cases, permissions are based on the active configuration Version at the time of registration. For PSP-registered Merchants, Permissions align with the latest Merchant portal configuration version. Additionally, Custom permissions can be applied at the Merchant account level to accommodate specific business needs.
This model ensures that every Merchant has the appropriate level of access and functionality, while administrators maintain full control over Permission management.
Roles define the level of access and the set of Permissions available to each user within the Merchant portal. Each Role has a predefined scope of Permissions that cannot be modified at the individual Merchant account level. By reviewing Roles, you can ensure that users have the appropriate access to manage payment operations and administrative settings.
For each Role, you can see its Name, Access scope, and associated Members. While System and Custom roles cannot be edited per Merchant account, you can manage Roles globally through the Merchant portal to maintain consistent and secure access control.
The Members section allows you to manage users of a Merchant account, including adding new Members, reviewing existing ones, and updating their personal details. Each Member is assigned a Role, which defines their scope of Permissions and determines what actions they can perform within the Merchant account.
Invited users receive an email with a Role assignment, ensuring controlled and secure access from their first login. You can also edit Member details to keep user data accurate and up to date.
